Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa is running in Joburg from October 30th to November 2nd. Key to note this year are two Kenyan entries - Rift Valley Leather and Puchulik - who will feature alongside 28 other designers from 15 African countries.

Other designers showcasing include Mustapha Hassannali (Tanzania), Taibo Baccar (Mozambique), Mille Collines (Rwanda), Thula Sindi (South Africa), and one of my personal faves David Tlale (South Africa).

Kenyan Actress Lupita Nyong'o for VOGUE. Believe It.

Kenya's newest Hollywood export Lupita Nyong'o (who we've written & gushed about before) is so achingly gracious in her poise and eloquence, it's hardly surprising that she could now be facing an Academy Award nomination for her role in Director Steve McQueen's new film 12 Years a Slave (2013). Lupita's unprecedented and meteoric rise to fame is the stuff of fantasy, leaving us in blatant awe (jaws dropped) of her talent, elegance, and of course beauty. We anxiously await the results of this VOGUE sitting.

Stolen from British VOGUE's London Fashion Week Street Style. Leather head-to-toe is so, so chic and how the 90s biker look is still so relevant for now. I have a black leather skirt I can't put down; it goes with everything, but I can really only wear it in the evening (too hot here). And unlike this gorgeous Amazonian lady (model, obviously) I cannot wear this much black leather at once. I also have a maroon leather pencil skirt that paired with a tee, no joke, on my Top 10 best things in the world.

Festival of African Fashion & Arts (FAFA) brings the Fashion for Peace to Nairobi on November 2nd and 3rd 2013. In a time when focus on Kenya is on healing and bringing communities together FAFA believes that the strength and diversity of Kenya and the African continent should be celebrated in a spirit of unity and harmony.

Ann McCreath, creator of fashion label KIKO ROMEO and founder of FAFA noted "Fashion for Peace was borne with the belief that positive change can come when we encourage the positive and the inspiring; working together as different cultures."
