Maasai Splendour (complete with plastic roses)

KONDAKIS, Silk & Parachutes

My friend and designer Nike, 9 months along and still rocking her KONDAKIS silk designs, just adapted for a growing belly. Here (manning her stand at Bizarre Bazarre) she wears a mesh vest over her signature tan leggings. KONDAKIS clothes have a real of-the-earth, organic feel about them.
Assistant Ania wears a green parachute dress with weave detail, and silk worm cocoon earrings & bracelets. More KONDAKIS at www.kondakis.biz
Switcheroo. Outfit is completely transformed.

MBELA Shows Collections for Swahili & Nigeria Fashion Weeks

For the day's crazy heat, I wore a sheer vest under a preppy cream blazer with blue trim. The gold pins are buttons I never sewed onto anything (because I can't sew). Designer host Patricia Mbela opted for all black and a feather hairpiece.

Super fashion blogger One Nigerian Boy (left) is in town. I could tell he was a blogger from a mile away. With him, Stylist Frank Naikuni. See more DRESSUPNATION coverage of the show at KenyaBuzz www.kenyabuzz.com/lifestyle/fashion

Biko Is Best-Dressed! - TORONTO LIFE

"Biko Beauttah, a Kenyan-born transgendered model, is always one of our favourites. Sure, she might sling a muppet fur over her arm, but we’re more into the flashy dress full of colour, perfect coif and attitude-filled stare." TORONTO LIFE

What I Thought I'd Never See, Wish I Hadn't

I don't usually post 'international' fashion stories, because that's not the point of this blog, but I couldn't resist this one... Vogue's own Anna Wintour is pictured here at the Paris Louis Vuitton show in an African print trench for the Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Is it just me or is there something strange about seeing her in this ethnic print? A little too busy? Either way, the trench is a stunner (as seen below on a model). I want! It feels like a throwback to the Boxing Kitten/SUNO collections we love so much. Buyer beware: know thyself, African prints aren't for everyone.

Model Behaviour: Namnyak Does NFM

The face of this year's Nairobi Fashion Market is our beloved Namnyak Charity Odupoy. You may recall that we styled and shot her in Penny Winter for UP! Magazine (pictures below). With that amazing skin and all that hair, Namnyak is as beautiful and professional a model as you will ever meet. Loves her.
Out & about with Nam at the Nairobi Fashion Market...
