Anisa Mpungwe for MR PRICE

I'm a little slow on the uptake (forgive me) but it's taken me a month to click onto this story. Head of South African design house Loin Cloth & Ashes (cool name hey) Anisa Mpungwe recently launched a limited-edition collection for the Project range of budget retailer MR PRICE. Here are some of the collection's graphic separates:

 

 

Born in Tanzania, Mpungwe is now firmly a part of the South African fashion institution. ELLE South Africa writes:

Need to know: making a difference is close to Anisa’s heart, so she teamed up with Mr Price’s Red Cap Foundation, its registered non-profit and public benefit organisation which aims to empower young South Africans and nurture young talent. This has made designing a range for Mr Price a special journey.

Joanne Frédéric, Trend Director at Mr Price, says: ‘We’ve always admired Anisa’s creativity, style, tenacity and passion for nurturing young talent and giving back to the community.’

It’s an exciting time for fashion in South Africa. Frédéric attributes this to ‘our unique mix of cultures and the eclectic influence they have on our design aesthetic.
