Trendz Kenya Fashion Festival

Two things, and both are good. This show (one of many I go to and try to share with you regularly) presented by Sonu Sharma and her Just Like That team is (for real) testament to the growth of the fashion industry in this country. ("Fashion industry" is such a played out term, sorry...). You can't tell from the photos, but the level of production (music, sound, audiovisual), the choreography, the models, the designers - all of it was at a really, really high standard, not often seen here. Very profesh. Putting these shows together to a roomful of critics is never easy...

Second thing: the strength of the menswear was astounding, not just for the quantity, but the quality also. A couple of years ago, you didn't see men represented at all at Nairobi fashion shows. Not in a real way anyway, a way that is relevant and realistic, actually wearable (seen here by Blackbird, John Kaveke, Paledi Segapo). Other participating designers included Niku Chana, Jamil Walji, Galina Tatarinova, Anita Dongre. & Ali Rehemtulla.

Read the rest of the story at KenyaBuzz. Thank-you Sonu Sharma and Just Like That, job superbly done.
